Plans, Data & Validity

How does my data allowance work?

Your plan includes a total data allowance that can be used anytime during your selected plan duration. This is not a monthly allowance — you’re free to use your data as and when you need it.

What happens if I need more data?

You can top up in seconds through your MyZappyfi account. Topping up adds more data and resets your plan duration.

What data speeds can I expect with my SmartSIM?

There are no speed caps or fixed limits on SmartSIM. Your speeds depend entirely on network coverage, signal strength, device capability, and local conditions in the area you’re using it. SmartSIM automatically connects to the strongest available network to deliver the best possible performance wherever you are.

What happens when my data or validity ends?

Once your data is used up or the plan duration ends, your connection will pause. Simply top up to get back online.

What should I do if my SmartSIM is lost or damaged?

No worries. Contact our support team and we’ll help arrange a replacement SIM at free of cost, so you can get back online quickly.

How can I track my data usage and top up my SmartSIM?

Log in or register at MyZappyfi, then head to Manage My SmartSIMs. Add your SIMs to view real-time usage, manage your plan, and top up anytime — all in one simple dashboard.

Setting Up SmartSIM & Connectivity

How do I get started with my SmartSIM?

Pop in your Zappyfi SmartSIM, power on your device, and you should be online within moments. In most cases, connectivity starts automatically with no setup required.

I’ve changed devices — how do I reinstall my eSIM on a new device?

Delete the eSIM from your old device, then re-scan the original QR code we sent by email or included with your e-commerce order. If you can’t find the QR code or need a hand, just contact our team and we’ll resend it and guide you through the setup.

What if my SmartSIM doesn’t connect immediately?

If you’re not connected straight away, a quick manual APN setup usually does the trick. It only takes a minute — just follow the steps in our APN guide FAQs below.

APN Setup – Phones & Tablets

If your device doesn’t connect automatically, follow these quick steps.

Step 1: Open APN settings
Android:
Settings → Network & Internet → Mobile Network → Access Point Names (APNs)
iPhone / iPad:
Settings → Mobile Service → Zappyfi SIM → Mobile Data Network

Step 2: Enter the APN details

  • APN: linkglobal
  • Username: Leave blank
  • Password: Leave blank
  • Data Roaming: Make sure it’s ON

Step 3: Save & restart
Save the settings, restart your device, and you should be connected.

APN Setup – Routers & Modems

Step 1: Insert the SIM
Insert the Micro-size Zappyfi SmartSIM into your router or modem and power the device on.

Step 2: Connect to the Router Wi-Fi
On your phone, tablet, or laptop:

  1. Open Wi-Fi settings
  2. Select the router/modem network name (SSID)
  3. Enter the Wi-Fi password (The Wi-Fi SSID and password are usually printed on a sticker on the device)
If the device has been used before, use the existing Wi-Fi details.

Once connected, your device may show “Connected, No Internet” — this is normal at this stage.

Step 3: Access the Router Admin Page
Open a web browser on your Mobile, Laptop or Tablet where you have connected to your router wifi and enter the router’s IP address, such as:

The correct address and login details can also be found on the device label or in the router manual.

Log in using the router’s admin username and password.

If the router is new, you’ll be prompted to create an admin password. Otherwise, use the existing one.

Step 4: Navigate to APN Settings

Once logged in:

  • TP-Link devices: Select Advanced, then go to Network → Mobile WAN or Internet
  • Other devices: Look for Network, Mobile, WAN, or Dial-Up, then open APN or Profile Management

Step 5: Create a New APN Profile
Disable Auto APN or Automatic mode, then click Add, Add New, or Create Profile.

Enter the following details:

  • Profile Name: Zappyfi
  • APN:
ukapn — for UK-only usage and access to UK local/location-based content (such as BBC iPlayer and other UK-restricted services)

linkglobal — for global travel, including the UK and EU
  • Username: Leave blank
  • Password: Leave blank
  • PDP Type: IPv4
  • APN Type: Static
  • Authentication Type: CHAP

Make sure the following are enabled:

  • Mobile Data: ON
  • Data Roaming: ON

Step 6: Save & Restart
Save the profile and restart the router or modem.

Once restarted, your connection should be active and ready to use.

APN Setup – Built-In Car Wi-Fi & Connected Vehicles

Insert the Zappyfi SmartSIM into your vehicle’s built-in SIM slot and start the car. Most connected vehicles require the APN to be configured once via the car’s infotainment or connectivity settings.

Where do I find the APN settings?
Using your vehicle’s dashboard screen:

  1. Open Settings
  2. Navigate to Connectivity, Mobile Network, or Wi-Fi / Data Settings
  3. Look for APN or Mobile Data Settings
(The exact menu name may vary by vehicle manufacturer.)

Enter the APN details
Use the APN that matches how you plan to use the vehicle connectivity:

  • UK-only usage & UK local content
    APN: ukapn
(Recommended for UK driving and access to UK location-based services)
  • International or EU travel
    APN: linkglobal
(Recommended if the vehicle will be used outside the UK)

Other settings:

  • Username: Leave blank
  • Password: Leave blank
  • Authentication: Automatic / None (or CHAP if required)
  • Data Roaming: Enabled

Save & connect
Save the settings and allow the vehicle a moment to connect. In some cases, you may need to switch the ignition off and on again to complete the setup.

What if my car doesn’t connect?

  • Double-check the APN is entered exactly
  • Ensure data roaming is enabled
  • Restart the vehicle or infotainment system

If you still need help, our 24/7 UK-based support team is available to assist with setup and vehicle-specific guidance.

Does the SmartSIM come with a mobile number?

No. Zappyfi SmartSIM is a data-only SIM and does not include a permanent MSISDN (mobile number).

For IoT devices that require SMS-based configuration, our support team can assist by assigning a temporary MSISDN for sending commands, or by sending the required SMS commands on your behalf and sharing the device responses. This ensures full compatibility with supported IoT use cases.

If you need help setting this up, contact our support team and we’ll guide you through it.

How can I send SMS commands to configure my IoT device?

If your IoT device requires SMS commands for setup, our support team can help. We can provide a temporary number for sending commands or send them on your behalf and share the device response. Just reach out and we’ll take care of it.

Our vision

What sparked the idea behind Zappyfi?

Zappyfi started with a simple frustration: great trips held back by unreliable connectivity. What began as a conversation about fixing mobile signal quickly evolved into something bigger — combining smart connectivity with well-designed devices and accessories that actually fit real life.

What is Zappyfi’s core mission?

Our mission is to make connectivity feel effortless and dependable, while removing the complexity people associate with telecom. Whether it’s a SmartSIM, a router, or an accessory, every product is built to be simple, reliable, and easy to live with.

How is Zappyfi different from traditional networks?

Zappyfi isn’t tied to a single network or a single product. Our SmartSIM automatically connects to the best available signal, while our devices and accessories are designed to support that connectivity wherever you are — without contracts, lock-ins, or technical friction.
